  • Within a day of March For Our Lives’s 2022 rally in Washington, D.C., the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act was introduced — the first gun control bill America had passed in nearly 30 years. It cracked down on younger gun buyers while funding mental health and school safety initiatives.

  • MFOL triggered an investigation into NRA President Wayne LaPierre by sending a letter to the New York State Attorney General outlining serious complaints and governance failures. The AG launched a full investigation — taking Wayne LaPierre and the NRA to court.

In February 2024, LaPierre was found liable for corruption.

  • In the aftermath of the Parkland high school shooting, students pressured lawmakers to: raise the age to purchase firearms from 18 to 21, create a red flag law, and institute a waiting period on gun purchases.

  • In Illinois, MFOL and its allies testified in front of lawmakers who later passed the Protect Illinois Communities Act. Assault weapons, high-capacity magazines, and rapid-fire switches were banned. This bill made Illinois one of the few states with an assault weapons ban.

  • Michigan activists and MFOL were able to pressure Governor Gretchen Whitmer to enact the state’s first gun safety package in 40 years, including safe storage, universal background checks, and extreme risk protection orders.

  • After years of relentless pressure from March For Our Lives and their allies, President Biden finally created the White House Office of Gun Violence Prevention. MFOL were the first to lead the charge on this initiative.
